BY DOING THIS YOU ARE SURE NOT TO GET ANY MOT RETEST FEES.THIS CAN BE DONE WHILE HAVING A SERVICE OR JUST THE MOT ON ITS OWN.

Common MOT failures: 

Number plates - wrong colour and layout.  Black background with silver type only on bikes registered before 1980 .

must be in two line layout but three line allowed up to 2001 .single line rear NEVER allowed.(No matter what was allowed at your last garage)

Plate size 9x7 inch (7 digit) slightly smaller for 6 digit.

 Indicators  - rear indicators must be 180mm apart, front 240mm apart rear,so one single rear integral light is not MOT legal.Indicators are not required on off road style bikes if(solo seat, off road style tyre treads,higher sump then usual)

Auxiliary lamps-Front lamps such as marker or spots are not tested.

Exhaust Pipes - must NOT be stamped /marked- not for road use- or competition use only.

Horns-Bulb horns can only be used on pre 1973.Historic (pre 1980) do not require an MOT.

Tyres-Motocross tyres cannot be used if marked NHS or NOT FOR  HIGHWAY USE or COMPETION USE ONLY.Unless also marked JIS,DOT',E' IN CIRCLE OR 'e' IN SQUARE.

DAY LIGHT USE ONLY-all lamps must be removed,or masked or disconnected.Rear reflector not required.Horn must work.

SIMPLE RULE -IF IN DOUBT ASK US FIRST TO SAVE A WASTED TRIP.
